025 – Kamuki ‘Yo Japan!’

Remixes: Markus Lange & fRew

Kamuki deliver their first original on Spin Out after we saw their debut remix of Lutzenkirchen’s ‘Back In Time’ in March. Kamuki have gained support from DJ’s ranging from Drum and Bass Superstars Pendulum, who put Kamuki’s ‘Fashion Music’ in their top ten in Mixmag, to globe trotting Aussies Aston Shuffle, showing there is no limit to where the Kamuki name can go. One half of the duo Luke Ashworth, was the 2006 winner of the Diesel U Music Awards and he went on to become the Smirnoff Experience Resident Tour DJ and have gained support from top DJ’s getting tracks played on BBC Radio 1, Kiss FM and XFM.

The original track is a full on electro! An energetic production and a bassline to make you get down and dirty…synth variations and percussive shuffles keep you on your toes as this little groover stomps along before taking you on an intense build up. The build gets you begging for the drop and then sure enough you get it – pure floor stomping electro.

Markus Lange is a man who has been widely acknowledged for his unique and impressive contribution to the music industry and has had tracks on the likes of Great Stuff & Craft Music. He has had great support from DJ’s such as Oxia, Funk D’Void and Gregor Tresher and recently saw tracks on Ministry of Sound ‘The Annual 2007’. His remix is a quirky and sexy blend of styles, originally convincing you this will be another electro tune with a grunting saw bassline but this track surprises you with its first break. The warm bassline changes into something much more uplifting and engaging, intriguingly taking you in a totally different direction. It chops back to the electro saw bass side of things for an interlude before hurling you back to the more exciting and eccentric gliding bassline, a wicked blend and use of musical nouse here by Mr Lange.

Last on the remix we have hot talent fRew, yes with a capital R. This Australian mastermind has tracks out on Vacation Records and currently hosts the Beat Box radio show with Bass Kleph on 2SER every Friday in Sydney, Australia. fRew’s audience are captivated by his inventive sounds and intelligent arrangements and with his current download tally stacking up at 137,000 on iTunes alone his audience are dedicated and vast. His remix is true fRew style with throbbing wobbly bass lines. The track begins grooving along with a cool bouncy bassline and snippets of the original synths before hitting the break. This is where the track really gets going, building and building before the bass wobbles and the track kicks off in full bass ridden madness, truly what we’ve all come to expect of this guy.
