027 – Caninesounds ‘Merrang’

Remixes: Moonbootica & Si McEvoy

After a very successful 2008 for Caninesounds it’s back to work in ‘09 with the follow up to their massively successful ‘Bounce’. Last year saw them make great waves with their releases and remixes, including a remix of Luetzenkirchen’s ‘Back In Time’, Si McEvoy’s ‘Wet Spot Machine’ and then of course…’Bounce’ which featured remixes from Swen Weber and Dylan Rhymes. They rocked some top gigs last year including We Love Sundays @ Space, Ibiza and nights at Ministry of Sound and Hub Club, to name but a few. They have also been hard at it in the studio working on new tunes and this is their first offering…Merrang! We’re pretty sure you’ll enjoy it!

The original starts off with some (ultra cool) trance-esque synths and arpegiations before they twist the track and hit you with their ‘Canine’ sounds. A mechanical, throbbing bassline gets the tune off to a flying start and in true Caninesounds fashion they introduce a cool lead melody line, ripping its way through the rest of the track. Bouncing in and out of the lead line the track grooves up and down and constantly keeps you on your toes, a typical Caninesounds groove to keep you going!

First on the remix we have massive German duo Moonbootica. Having seen them play live on many occasions we knew they always had music to rock the party and with releases on Great Stuff and their very own Moonbootique Records they consistently deliver full on party music and this remix will not disappoint! The remix starts off with some big beat style percussion before picking up to an electro house rhythm and a bassline that is true to the original but before you know it they have enhanced the track. Incorporating the main melody from the original and then leading up to a cool bright synth, breaking down the track to build the tension and then thrusting you back into an amazing party tune that will make your 95 year old Gran get up and shake her arse.

Finally we have Spin Out fave Si McEvoy on remix duties giving us a more progressive take. Si uses the main musical hooks from the original and expands them to create a musical wonderland reminiscent of old skool Hybrid. The bass is full and throbbing and is enough to shake the roof off. Continuing to build throughout, this track really peaks after the final break when all the ideas and elements of this track come together for one big euphoric moment. Make sure you appreciate this one at high levels for true effect.
