Remixes: Lutzenkirchen’s Extraordinary Edit & Tim Weeks
Tobias Lutzenkirchen is a man who barely needs an introduction as he’s had countless underground hits for years now. This is his second release on Spin Out, after last years’ Time Warp EP and we’re sure its one for the box in ’09! Lutzenkirchen had a fantastic 2008 with hits including ‘All The Jazz’, ‘Paperboy’ and ‘Nutcracker’. Working with some of the finest labels around he has released tracks on Platform B, Great Stuff, Kling Klong, Craft Music, CR2 and he has recently signed two tracks to Ministry of Sound Germany.
This original is what we’ve all come to know as ‘classic’ Lutzenkirchen, driving percussive techno. Clean and energetic beats get the track underway and builds slowly using great reverb and delay effects on percussion to give the whole track depth and movement. The driving bassline picks up pace of the track and then bringing in a synth melody over the top he cleverly uses white noise to build the tune up and down. It continues relentlessly with only a small percussive break for you to catch your breath and take note of how you’ve been cleverly manoeuvred through groove to the end of the track. This is surely set to knock the socks off of any techno set!
To spice things up a bit Tobias provides us with an additional ‘extraordinary’ edit of the original. Instantly starting with more energy than the first it sticks to a similar format with a driving bassline. He has added some quirky percussive work outs to the track and uses white noise over the kick breaks to great effect, building the track to kick back in with a serious thump. Later bringing in a new synth melody resulting in an almighty peak which no fan of Lutzenkirchen will be able to resist…. Simply put this is a TUNE!!!
On the remix we have young gun Tim Weeks. Only releasing a few records in the past year Tim has already proven that he has the knowledge and the ability to produce floor killers. His first EP ‘Fashionably Late’ was out on Leaders of the New School and his last release, a remix of ‘Restless’ for Opaque Music graced the Top Ten Beatport chart for weeks. His remix is very deep with a warm bass bubbling under the clean beats subtly using elements from the original. Keeping it dub and dark through the whole track we’re sure this is going to be one to play and be played time and time again.
Classics in the making!
